Israel Railways Announces Special Schedule for Memorial Day and Independence Day

Israel Railways has released a modified operating schedule for the upcoming national holidays, ensuring that residents of Nahariya, the Krayot, and the wider Northern region can reach memorial ceremonies and holiday celebrations with increased frequency and dedicated service.

Memorial Day Service Adjustments

On Memorial Day, Tuesday, April 21, Israel Railways will operate a full schedule across all lines, supplemented by specific service extensions to accommodate those traveling to military cemeteries. Notably for Northern residents, the route of Train 8032, which departs Beer Sheva Center at 10:41 AM, will be extended. Instead of terminating at Tel Aviv Savidor Central, it will continue to Haifa Merkaz HaShmona, making stops at Tel Aviv University, Herzliya, and all Haifa stations.

Conversely, Train 8033 will initiate its southward journey from Haifa Merkaz HaShmona at 12:03 PM, rather than Tel Aviv, stopping at all Haifa stations, Herzliya, and Tel Aviv University before concluding at Beer Sheva Center.

In honor of the fallen, Israel Railways will distribute roses and “Yizkor” stickers to passengers at select stations throughout the day. Bereaved family members are also entitled to a 50 percent discount on travel, available upon presentation of a valid Bereaved Family ID card.

Independence Day and Night Service

As the country transitions into Independence Day celebrations on Wednesday, April 22, the railway will adjust to a holiday format. Trains will run once per hour on all lines nationwide, with the exception of the Beer Sheva North–Dimona line, which will maintain its routine frequency.

For those planning to attend late-night festivities, a comprehensive night service will operate between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. This service will provide continuous links between Herzliya, Tel Aviv, Ben Gurion Airport, and Jerusalem’s Yitzhak Navon station in both directions.

Planning Your Journey

Local commuters in Nahariya and the Western Galilee are encouraged to verify specific departure times via the Israel Railways website, mobile application, or the customer service hotline at *5770. Given the expected increase in passenger volume during the holiday transition, travelers should allow for extra time at regional stations.

The modified schedule aims to provide a seamless transition between the solemnity of Memorial Day and the celebrations of Israel’s 78th Independence Day, supporting the mobility of residents across the Galilee and beyond
